Office Ergonomics Training by Humantech
September 30, 2011
Meeting is Full
Dear Members,
Please read these two messages:
1) We have a new Board Member, Scott Meyer, and he wants to send a message regarding the Healthcare Section of the Roundtable.
Hello All – My name is Scott Meyer, and I am the newest member on the board for the Ergonomics Roundtable. I have an interest in continuing to stay on top of ergonomics in healthcare. There has been interest in resurrecting a subcommittee who meets to discuss healthcare ergonomics. I would like to get a list of all those interested in participating in this subcommittee. If we have enough interest we can move forward with this.
Possible topics to be discussed would be current legislature that will directly affect ergonomics in healthcare, as well as best practices that are used throughout different health systems.
Please email me at scottjmeyer@gmail.com if you are interested in being part of this group. Meeting times and locations will be determined at a later time depending on estimated attendance.
Thank you, Scott Meyer, Cell: 209-484-2645, Email: scottjmeyer@gmail.com, www.ErgoRT.org
2) Many of you have asked about where to find a place for Ergonomics Training/Certification that is local. We have a messaage from one of our members, Alice Welborn, about that topic:
Hi Ergonomics Roundtable Members,
We have the opportunity to have a professional trainer from Humantech teach an applied office ergonomics course here in Sacramento. We as a group only need to have 20 people interested in taking this one day course for $170.00 ( a very good price).
The target audience are those responsible for ergonomic analysis and solutions in office work environments or anyone looking to further their knowledge in this area. There are no prerequisites. The objective after successful completion are the following:
- Explain the application of ergonomics to workstation retrofit and design
- Identify contributing factors to work-related MusculoSkeletal disorders
- Recognize and prioritize office ergonomic challenges
- Identify simple and effective ergonomic improvements in the office
- Accurately apply the following ergonomic assessment/solution tools:
- Office Hit List
- Office Design Guidelines
- Problem-Solution Matrix
- Select workstations and office accessories for better productivity and health and safety
Again, this is a terrific opportunity to have a course that conforms to BCPE (Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics) standards, the "gold standard" taught by a professional from a highly regarded company whose single purpose for over 30 years has been to improve the lives of the working population. This is something we want to organize very soon so please let us know if you are interested or know people who might be. We do not get this chance very often here in Sacramento.
Thanks, Alice Welborn avwelborn@sbcglobal.net
We look forward to seeing you on July 12th!!
Best Regards,
Ergonomics Roundtable of Sacramento
